New Apple Event!
This week Apple announced that there will be a special event on the 20th of April titled “Spring Loaded”. This is 48 days before the Apple WWDC Keynote which will likely see the announcement of iOS 15 and WatchOS 8.
So, what are we likely to see at this event? Well hopefully we will finally see the launch of AirTags. These have been mentioned for the past three years as being a possible contender at an event but still nothing. With the launch of Find My network for Third party devices in the past few weeks it seems more and more likely that we will see the launch of these.
A lot of rumours are circulating around as well for a new generation of Apple TV. This will certainly be exciting, and some might say overdue bearing in mind the Apple TV has the A8 chip powering it which is two generations older than the one in the current iPod Touch.
After the event it is also likely we will see the release of iOS 14.5 and WatchOS 7.4 which includes several cool new changes. As well as some new iPhone cases and watch straps.
The interesting thing about this was that the event was actually accidently leaked by Siri as you can read here on MacRumors [https://www.macrumors.com/2021/04/13/siri-apple-event-tuesday-april-20/]
Spotify announces something called “Car Thing”
Spotify this week have announced a new piece of hardware for the car called “Car Thing” I took one look at this car thing and the thing is I don’t see the point of it. It’s designed for older cars obviously as you would rather use CarPlay or Android Auto otherwise but even then, I still don’t see the point.
It needs to connect to your phone via Bluetooth and then the device itself sits on the dashboard via a provided mount and connects to your car either via Bluetooth, USB or Aux. Sooooo if that’s the case and you have an older car why wouldn’t you just connect your phone to the car for example via AUX and put the phone on the dashboard and then at least you could have a satnav on display and not only Spotify or you could have two devices cluttering your dashboard (Maybe 3 if you have a dashcam too).
I simply don’t see the point of this device and I think it will be a flop. At the moment Spotify is giving it away to some “lucky” Spotify premium users but retail it’s expected to be $79.99
Apple Music TV launches in the UK
Interesting name AMTV for short (very close to MTV) Apple Music TV has been out in the USA and Canada since October last year and I didn’t even realise it was out until today when I was doing some research, it’s actually been out since the 9th of April.
Anyway, AMTV is a non-stop live stream of music videos as a channel. Just like a music channel on the TV but without adverts. I’d love to see how many views it gets because I can’t imagine it being many.
Upcoming social media free week
