There is over 2 million apps available to users of iOS. In this week’s post I’m going to talk about some of the great apps available and some of the ones I can’t live without. So, let’s take a look at my iPhone first.
All the Rings:
As I’ve mentioned in a previous blog post the Apple watch activity app is an amazing app for tracking your fitness and for improving your health. Well “All the Rings” is like a DLC if Activity was a game. All the Rings is free with ads or you can remove them for £2.99.
My favourite thing about is that you can easily see Streaks much better than the Activity app. The idea behind this is to complete your goals for as many days as possible to create a streak. It shows your progress and your top three results. Next you can press Workouts and it displays your Best; Average and Last workout in each of the category’s and Stats shows more information about how you’ve been doing with your goals. (Also, where you can see that I’ve never done a perfect month!)
As mentioned above you can remove the ads for £2.99 or have it as it is for free. Also, for a Subscription you can get more features including alerts and Siri support or you can pay a one-off fee for £19.99.
App in the Air:
The perfect travel companion if you get a lot of flights. It can organize your documents for when you go on a trip including Expense tracking, your hotel and your boarding pass. It also has some nifty AR features including being able to check your baggage fits within your baggage allowance.
It can connect to several accounts to automatically get your trip information and will even give you a push notification during your flight to remind you to get up and stretch. The app is free with some premium features being on a subscription base.
TripAdvisor:
Everyone must have heard of this great app. I use it on my iPad for planning a trip and then on my iPhone during the trip. For those that haven’t heard of the app. It Is an app where you can easily find things to do or buy tickets to attractions. You can easily read reviews by other people and is great for finding real local spots.
The app is free and easy to use. If you make an account, you can create trips and save all the places you want to go to as well as view bookings you have made via the app.
SongData:
Not even that exciting just a bit geeky. For those of you like me that have used iTunes for a while now you may have used it features like Top 25 most played. Well this app can show you information like your play count and last played. Just like you could on iTunes but now easily on iOS and it works well with Apple music too.
Those were only four of my favourite apps which I use that are different to what you normally read on these lists. I obviously have the cliché social apps which I use every day including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram etc.) If you want a different social network for fitness, Strava is amazing.
Autosleep is my favourite for tracking sleep as if you wear an Apple watch to bed, it does it automatically tracks it. (Hopefully Apple will bring this to the watch soon.)
I also wrote a piece called “Getting fit and organized with Apple this 2020” where I talked about some great apps like Streaks. Check it out here -> https://www.kylewilkinsononline.com/post/get-fit-organised-this-2020-with-apple
There are lots of great apps available with even more being created every day. When Steve jobs introduced the App store back in 2008 it had just 500 apps now it has over 2 million.
Until next time
