New iPhones, New Watches But No AirPower

On the 12th of September you may of heard that Apple was having an event and so they did. This blog post is a summery of the event and my thoughts on these. The event started with the Apple watch. This was the highlight for me as I have one of the earlier versions of the Apple watch and was wanting to upgrade.

Apple Watch Series 4, You can have it with or without cellular and it features a new iPhone X styled edge to edge screen. (Without the notch this time) Inside the Series 4 Watch is the new 64 Bit S4 Apple Chip, a next generation Accelerometer and gyroscope which can sample 8x Faster. A new Haptic feedback digital crown gives that real mechanical feel. The microphone on the device has been moved to the right and there is now two speakers on the device meaning you can hear your conversations on the phone or with Siri much more clearly.

The devices features some awesome new health features, It can now detect low heart rates to go with the high heart rate notification but you can now also take an ECG via the Apple Watch. However the app isn't going to be available just yet and is only for the US.

The watch comes in new 40mm or 44mm sizes, the good news here is that all your old Watch bands still fit.

iPhones, Not one, not two but THREE new phones were announced on Wednesday. The iPhone XS & XS Max. They both feature a new Apple A12 Bionic Chip which is only 7 Nanometers thick. The all new neural engine designed by Apple. You can take enhanced Depth effect and Bokeh pictures with the new iPhone XS. The XS is your iPhone upgrade if you have the X. Very similar to the X in my opinion but with faster processors and better cameras, The device still has Face ID which is much more efficient and secure to Touch ID. The XS Max has a new bigger 6.5 inch screen but other then that it's more or less the same. The XS starting price is at £999 and the XS Max is £1099.

The third phone they announced is designed for customers who don't want to pay out that hefty price tag. Not that this phone is cheap. The new iPhone XR, starting at £749 features a "Liquid retina" LCD display and a single camera not two. This camera can still do depth effect photos however and still does feature the new A12 Bionic chip and Face ID.

That is my thoughts on the new apple devices and there new upcoming features. Unfortunately there is still no news on AirPower charging mat and I don't think there will be anything about this year at all. Maybe at WWDC 2019 if we're lucky. I've added an image of some of the other smaller details of the new devices.

Until next time,

Kyle Wilkinson.
