WWDC Announced, New Apple Watch Straps and Facebook disappoints again.

WWDC2021

WWDC2021 has been officially announced by Apple this week. As expected again this year WWDC will be an online only virtual event from the 7th of June to the 11th with a special event keynote to be hosted on the 7th. Just like every year with WWDC we are expecting the latest in Apple’s software to be updated. Personally, I’m not expecting anything too big with iOS this year as we got quite a lot with iOS 14 with widgets and the new home screen.

Soon I’ll be writing my personal Wishlist for what I want to see this year on iOS and WatchOS. As well as covering the event live on Twitter and shortly on my blog afterwards. I will also be hoping to bring my podcast back for the event. Keep in touch on twitter here: www.twitter.com/kylewilkinson46

Apple Arcade has a lot newer games!

This week Apple released several new games to its Apple Arcade platform. Adding three new collections. Timeless classics features games like Chess, Solitaire and Backgammon meanwhile “App Store Greats” features games like Fruit Ninja, Mini Metro and Monument valley all of them have a + at the end of the name. Possibly to indicate they are special Apple Arcade versions. Let’s not forget all Apple Arcade games do not contain ANY in-app purchases or adverts.

Updates on iOS 14.5 App Tracking Privacy

Apple no longer will be accepting updates if App’s fail to comply with the rules on Asking the user if the App has permission to track what a user does on the phone. The App may want to track a user for example to customise what ads are displayed to a user. Facebook also likes to sell all your data so personally I’ll be saying Ask not to track.

Speaking of Facebook this week they managed to lose 500 million peoples personal data online. So thanks Facebook. https://9to5mac.com/2021/04/03/personal-data-from-over-500m-facebook-users-leaked-online/

Spring accessories expected soon!

Normally Apple releases new Spring Apple Watch and iPhone cases every year but since the iPhone 12’s launch we have not had anything new apart from the Unity Apple watch band. Well thanks to the most recent iOS beta. We can see that it is likely we are going to get new cases very soon. As we know when you put a new genuine Apple case on the iPhone the MagSafe circle displays also matching the colour of the case, that is how we know something is coming.
