Hello, This week I’m taking a look at the recent Apple and Tech news with the current epidemic around the globe regarding COVID-19 it’s nice to talk about some news which maybe positive and different having written that though I want to remind you how important it is to stay at home, work from home and if you go out to exercise to make sure you watch your distance, Thank you.
On that note let’s take a look at the latest news!
Disney+ out in the UK!
Something I have been looking forward to for a long time! On March the 24th Disney+ was released to all of us in Europe. At the moment it has been released with reduced streaming quality to reduce data usage.
When Disney+ launched in America the service was so popular that it couldn’t cope! And after 1 day the service already had 10 million subscribers. I think the service will Popular in the UK too with its very reasonable price I can’t see why you wouldn’t want it.
The service costs just £5.99 per month or £59.99 per year. This includes the whole Disney Library, Loads of Pixar films, the whole Marvel collection, Films (and TV) by Fox, The Star Wars collection and loads of films / Tv episodes. Meanwhile Netflix is £5.99 per month for no HD and then £8.99 per month for HD and two screens at the same time. OR £11.99 per month for Ultra HD and four screens. There is no ability to purchase a one-year plan with Netflix.
One other thing I forgot to mention with the £5.99 per month you also get 4K video streaming with 4 devices being able to watch at the same time, for me Disney+ sounds like a no brainer compared to Netflix.
If I was working for Netflix, I would be starting to worry with the current market getting more and more competitive everyone is asking for a subscription now.
Apple Music NEW “For You” playlist
This week Apple released a new weekly updated algorithm-based playlist Called “Get Up!” it refreshes every Monday. Designed to have songs full of energy and full of songs for to get you to sing along this playlist Is perfect for a Monday.
iOS and more updates
This week Apple released iOS 13.4 which features some changes in the Mail app, some new Animoji and Memoji faces. Finally, you get iCloud Drive file sharing. This is something that was announced for when iOS 13 was going to be launched however it’s been pushed back till now. iCloud Drive file sharing enables you to share files / folders with others and everything is kept in sync within users in Realtime.
For the iPadOS 13.4 we get an exciting new feature. Full Mouse / Trackpad support. It such a key step forward for iPad and it works really well. The cursor adapts to what your selecting on the screen.
WatchOS 6.2 has also been released which supports for In-App purchases and ECG functionality in Chile, Turkey and New Zealand.
TvOS, MacOS and the HomePod have also received an update this week.
UK Contactless
From April the 1st the UK contactless limit will be changed from £30 to £45; This is likely to stop people using cash payments or having to put their pin in when paying for things to reduce the need for touching things.
I’m unsure if this is a temporary measure or not. Also, it’s not an April fool’s joke even though it starts on the 1st.
Want to keep fit whilst being stuck at home?
Due to COVID-19 a lot of us are stuck at home, Whilst I recommend, we all stay home unless you’re a key worker or for something essential at the shop. I wrote a blog post last week about how to keep fit in your own home. You could even start now if you’re not one of those who likes going to the gym to give yourself something to do!

Remember Stay at home, Save lives. See you all next week, the end of the month next week so I’ll be filling in my March Apple Watch Activity challenge diary.
